2 Male Reproductive System

Sperm (male gene carrier) was made in the testes and stored in the seminal vesicle.
When sexual intercourse, the sperm contained in a fluid called semen out through the vas deferens and penis erection.


Outer structure of the male reproductive system consists of the penis, scrotum (sac balls) and testes (testicles).
Inside the structure consists of the vas deferens, urethra, prostate gland and seminal vesicles.


The penis consists of
- Roots (attached to the abdomen didnding)
- Body (middle part of the penis)
- Glans penis (tip of the penis is shaped like a cone).
Hole urethra (the channel where semen and urine exit) there is at umung glans penis.
Basic glans penis called the corona.
In men who are not circumcised (circumcision), leather front (preputium) extending from the corona to cover the glans penis.

Agency penis consists of three cylindrical cavities (sinuses) of erectile tissue:
- Two larger cavity is called the corpus cavernous, located adjacent
- The third cavity is called the corpus spongiosum, surrounds the urethra.
If the cavity is filled with blood, the penis becomes larger, stiff and erect (an erection).

The scrotum is a thin-skinned sac that surrounds and protects the testes.
The scrotum also acts as a temperature control system for the testes, because that is normally formed sperm, the testes should have a slightly lower temperature than body temperature.
Kremaster on scrotal wall muscles will loosen or tighten further testicles hanging from the body (and the temperature became colder) or more close to the body (and the temperature becomes warmer).

Testes oval to the size of an olive and is located in the scrotum. Usually the left testis was slightly lower than the right testis.
The testes have two functions, which produce sperm and make testosterone (the primary male sex hormone).

The epididymis is located on the testes and is a six-meter long canal.
The epididymis collects sperm from the testes and to provide space and environment for sperm maturation process.

Vas deferens is a channel that brings the sperm from the epididymis.
This channel runs into the back of the prostate and into the urethra and ejaculatory ducts forming.
Other structures (eg blood vessels and nerves) work together to form the vas deferens and spermatic cord.


During sexual intercourse, the penis becomes stiff and upright thus allowing the occurrence of penetration (entry of the penis into the vagina)
Erection occurs due to the complicated interaction of the nervous system, blood vessels, hormones and psyche.
Pleasant stimuli cause a reaction in the brain, which then sends signals through the spinal cord to the penis.
Arteries that carry blood to the corpus cavernosal and corpus spongiosum to respond, which is dilated (widened). Widen an artery that causes increased blood flow to erectile area, that area is filled with blood and erectile widened.
The muscles around the veins that normally drain blood from the penis, will slow the flow of blood.
Raised blood pressure in the penis causes the penis length and diameter increases.

Ejaculation occurs when reaching the climax, when the friction on the glans penis and other stimuli transmit signals to the brain and spinal cord.
Stimulate nerve muscle contraction along the lines of the epididymis and vas deferens, seminal vesicles and prostate. These contractions push the cement into the urethra.
Furthermore, muscle contraction around urretra will push the cement out of the penis.
Also constrict the bladder neck so that the cement does not flow back into the bladder.

After ejaculation (or after the stimulus stops), tighten the arteries and veins to relax.
As a result the flow of blood into the arteries and reduced blood flow out of the veins increases, so the penis becomes soft.
